Monday Funday: Wolfhunter River (Stillhouse Lake, #3) by Rachel Caine

Stillhouse Lake Trilogy
Gwen Proctor, a.k.a. Gina Royal, begrudgingly travels to the remote town of Wolfhunter after a woman named Marlene Crockett reaches out to her by phone. Fearing that helping Marlene and her daughter is somehow a trap of sorts, Gwen will go to the end of the earth to protect her family while getting to the bottom of what is happening in this small town.

What can I say about Wolfhunter River (Stillhouse Lake, #3) by Rachel Caine other than . . . WOW! I couldn't put this latest edition of the Stillhouse Trilogy down and stayed up way past my bedtime more than once. This fast paced, action packed book had me racing through the pages because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. There weren't any slow parts in this book at all, and I think this one was my favorite one yet!

The characters came into their own in this story line, and we even learned more about some of their backstories, which I didn't think was possible at this point in the series. At one point in the book, it even had an eerie resemblance to the movie The People Under The Stairs, which had my heart pounding. If you've seen the movie, you'll know what I'm talking about when you get to a certain part of Wolfhunter River. I also love that Caine seemed to really get that small town mentality right. So many people think that people who live in the South, especially in small towns, are super welcoming, but they really aren't that welcoming. Don't get me wrong, not all people are going to the extremes that this town goes to.

I am so enchanted with this trilogy, and especially this third installment, that I am glad that the author has left the ending of the book open for yet another installment. Now, whether or not she'll continue this series or not is a whole other thing, but I really hope she continues adding more books to this series.

If you love suspense, thrillers, mystery, and horror novels, then you definitely need to read this entire series, and you need to read them in order as the author doesn't do a lot of retelling of the previous books. I gave Wolfhunter River (Stillhouse Lake, #3) five out of five stars.
