Scary Stories: More Tales To Chill Your Bones (Scary Stories, #3) written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell is the last edition in the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark book series. This collection of short stories are truly creepy stories, some that were even hair-raising and based off of folklore. As with the prequels, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (Scary Stories, #1) and More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (Scary Stories, #2) , I reread this edition for nostalgia reasons, to see if it held up to the test of time, and because I saw the movie based on these books in the movie theater. Scary Stories: More Tales To Chill Your bones was better than its predecessors and felt more adult as well. And, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the illustrator, Stephen Gammell. Since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided to reread a favorite book from my childhood . . . More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (Scary Stories, #2) , which is a collection of stories from folklore and retold by Alvin Schwartz. I first read this book and the other two books in the trilogy, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (Scary Stories, #1) and Scary Stories 3:  More Tales to Chill Your Bones (Scary Stories, #3) , in middle school, and I had fond memories of them. I also remember being terribly spooked after reading them, especially by the grotesque illustrations. If memory serves correctly, our teachers weren't thrilled with students reading them. My favorite stories in this edition are Something Was Wrong and The Wreck . I also enjoyed A Ghost in the Mirror . These were the spookiest of the stories. The latter story made a friend and I try to summon "Bloody Mary", and we completely freaked ourselves out. So, this was a great read for nostalgia reasons....

With the movie Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark coming to movie theaters in August 2019, I had to reread the book of the same name. I loved the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark trilogy when I was in middle school and remember them being very creepy. Although I don't think I ever got rid of my copies from my childhood, I didn't know where they are, so I ordered the entire trilogy with the original artwork from Amazon.com. When the books were delivered to my house yesterday, I was excited to dive right in to the first book because the sight of the books brought back all the feels from my childhood. However, in the hour it took me to read the first book, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark , I was very disappointed because it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it to be. Although, the pictures were just as wonderful as they always were . . . and super creepy. The stories that were still creepy that I enjoyed were Room For One More , The Hook , The Babysitter , ...
