The Storm  by Rachel Hawkins  opens with Geneva Corliss, the current owner of the Rosalie Inn, learning that an author by the name of August Fletcher will be coming to St. Medard's Bay, Alabama to research the death of Landon Fitzroy, the son of a prominent politician. She's less interested in learning whether or not the infamous Lo Bailey murdered Landon but how the book could possibly get her inn more notoriety and people deciding to make reservations at her establishment. As a hurricane barrels towards the Rosalie Inn, Geneva learns that people can be deadlier than a monster storm. The Last Carolina Summer by Karen White is the story about Phoebe Manigault returning home to Mt. Pleasant, a suburb of Charleston, South Carolina, to help her sister with their ailing mother. When past memories resurface, Phoebe is thrown back into some childhood turmoil. I requested an Advanced Readers Copy ARC of The Last Carolina Summer from NetGalley, and I was ecstatic when the provided me with a copy for free in exchange for my honest review. I loved hearing about the different places, including streets and a bridge called the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, which I had to cross to get into Mt. Pleasant as well as Isle of Palms. It's always nice to be able to visualize the places and author writes about. The House On Tradd Street (Tradd Street #1)  by Karen White is the first book in a series about Melanie, a real estate agent, who lives in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She recently inherited a home in Charleston that's supposedly haunted by ghosts of the past, and she's in the process of renovating it to sell. When an author requests access to the house to investigate it's history, strange things start happening. I found out about this series when the book club I belong to was reading the first book in a spin off of the Tradd Street series called The Shop on Royal Street (Royal Street, #1) . I enjoyed the spin off so much that I had to give this book a whirl. Boy, was I glad that I did because I absolutely loved The House On Tradd Street . Stories that have a bit of paranormal elements in it have always interested me, and I don't mind a little bit of romance either. This book has both of those elements along with a mystery. The Shop on Royal Street (Royal Street, #1) by Karen White is the first book in a spin off series from the Tradd Street book series.  Nola Trenholm is looking for a fresh start in New Orleans after having some hiccups in her personal life.  However, that's proving to be more difficult than she realized it would be with her house renovation. This book was the October book selection for the book club I belong to.  After hearing a couple of people say it was a little slow in the beginning, I was worried that I wouldn't like the book.  When I finally sat down to start reading The Shop on Royal Street , I had to agree that it was slow to start.  However, once I got two or three chapters in, the storyline really started to pick up making it hard for me to put it down, and I can't wait for the next installment to come out.
