Death of a Tom Turkey (Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery, #18)  by Lee Hollis  opens with Tom Farley and his neighbors in a snit because he's the last holdout to sell his house to a property developer who wants to build a resort. When Tom is shot at a pre-Thanksgiving community gathering and hospitalized, Hayley Powell puts her amateur sleuthing skills to good use. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishers for providing me with an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) of this cozy mystery. I received a copy of this book for free in exchange of my honest opinion and review of the story. I loved the fact that this latest installment of the Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery  series had a theme around the Thanksgiving holiday and included live turkeys in the plot. It was good to visit some familiar characters. Since this is the eighteenth installment in the series, Lee Hollis didn't go into much detail of the background of those reoccurring characters; however, she...

Product Review: Absolute New York Velvet Lippie, Buttery Matte Lip Cream, Flamenco

velvet lippie absolute new york

Over the weekend, I went to my local Macy's Department Store and meandered over to the Backstage department. I found so many great deals, especially on makeup. One of the items I picked up was a product package by Absolute New York that included four different lip products.

The first lip product I tried out was the Velvet Lippie, Buttery Matte Lip Cream. The color is called Flamenco. What I liked about this product is how smooth and evenly I was able to apply it to my lips. The velvet lippie kept my lips moist and kept me from licking my lips as much as I usually do. As far as the color goes, it went well with my skin tones and brighten up my face.

Other great things about the Velvet Lippie by Absolute New York are that I was able to eat food without any of it coming off, and very little came off when I was drinking a can of Mountain Dew. With that being said, when I wiped it off my lips with a Kleenex, the Velvet Lippie came off without any trouble and didn't stain my lips.

There isn't anything about the Velvet Lippie that I can complain about. And, that's saying a lot as I don't typically wear lipstick because I hate how it usually comes off when I eat or drink something, and this product doesn't do any of that!

Five out of five stars is what I get Absolute New York Velvet Lippie, Buttery Matte Lip Cream in Flamenco because it is long lasting. I can't wait to try out the other products that were included with this product. I will definitely be buying this particular brand and product again.
