The Housemaid (The Housemaid, #1)  by Freida McFadden is the first book in a series and opens with Millie interviewing for a housemaid position for the wealthy Winchester family. She's relieved when she learns that the job is hers until the gardener warms her of danger. It can't be worse than prison, right? I purchased a paperback copy of this book from my local BJ's Wholesale Club, and I have to say that I was not disappointed at all. This story helped give me a headstart in getting out of my reading slump because it's a fast, engaging read. With that being said, I was expecting to be completely blindsided by the ending, and I had quite a bit figured out relatively early on, so when the big twist came about, I wasn't really too surprised. I am eager to read the rest of the series to see how it pans out. Book Review: Suspicion by Joseph Finder

book review suspicion by joseph finderJoseph Finder's Suspicion is a fast paced thriller based in Boston, Massachusetts where a struggling author's life seems to be falling apart. Danny's ex-wife has passed away, and his daughter's private school tuition is past due. No thanks to a fellow parent's generosity of loaning him a large sum of money via a wire transfer, the DEA takes a sudden interest in Danny.

Holy plot twists, Batman! Suspicion had one plot twist after another that made it hard to put down. However, some of them were a bit predictable, but it really didn't detract from the story line or the writing.
The only real flaw I saw with the book is that it is doubtful a person would accept a personal loan from another person they've never met before . . . even if it was the father of their child's best friend. It would make more sense if there was some sort of scholarship fund that was available, but then, Finder wouldn't have had that connection he needed between Danny and Tom to make the rest of the book actually work. 

If I didn't have to work the next day, I would've stayed up all night long to finish the book. I think Suspicion would translate well to the movie format and hope it becomes a reality one day.

Book Review: Dirty Thirty (Stephanie Plum, #30) by Janet Evanovich Dirty Thirty (Stephanie Plum, #30) by Janet Evanovich  is the latest installment in the Stephanie Plum book series and opens with Joe Morelli asking Stephanie to dog sit his dog Bob while he is out of town testifying at a trial.  The typical chaos ensues when Stephanie has to bring Bob along to apprehend all of her FTAs and has her asking herself if she wants to be married. Each book in this series typically follows the same formula and is wrapped up in a neat, tidy bow at the end.  It's because of this that I enjoy the series . . . The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia is about two women from Madison who are completely different from one another and are on an airplane bound for Denver, Colorado. Jasmine is a waitress and is escaping an abusive relationship. Stephanie is a news director for a local news station headed to a news conference.
