Bridal Shower Murder (Lucy Stone, #31)  by Leslie Meier  opens with Lucy Stone rushing home to clean house for Zoe who is bringing home her boyfriend Chad. While there, Zoe and Chad announce their engagement but want to keep it a secret for a bit.  When a nosy busybody named Janice gets the best of Lucy, the mother of the bride blurts out Zoe's secret. Chaos ensues with a murder and an overdose. NetGalley, thank you for approving me to receive an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) of Bridal Shower Murder .  I've come to love Leslie Meier's Lucy Stone cozy mystery series and know that I will automatically read any book in this series without reading the synopsis. I have to say that this was one of the best stories in the series for multiple reasons. The first reason is that Lucy's husband isn't quite so sexist, which is refreshing for a change. I dislike it when he acts like a caveman who expects Lucy to be a housewife and wait on him hand and foot. What really surprised me...

Product Review: Dashing Diva Gloss Ultra Shine Gel Palette, Palm Beach

While recently in my local Sally Beauty Supply store to buy something else, I decided to see if they still had a particular product in stock that I had noticed the last time I was there. I made my way over to the nail care aisle, and low and behold, the nail polish strips I loved were there. There were two different color selections of Dashing Diva Gloss Ultra Shine Gel Palette that I couldn't decide between, so I decided to buy both.

The first color I decided to try out was the Palm Beach palette because I was absolutely in love with the colors. These color strips were relatively easy to put on but my biggest complaint is that they pinched together while smoothing them out on my nails leaving a bump. Following the directions to get the excess strip off, I was dismayed to see that it made the edges of my nail strip very rough. Using the file the way they recommended, I filed my nails into the shape I like. However, it left the nail strip a bit bubbly at the edges.

Overall, I was very pleased with the way my nails looked by the time I was finished with them despite the few issues I mentioned above. A few hours after I put them on, I went to the gym I belong to and utilized the treadmill. While walking, I had an itch on my leg and scratched it. Much to my surprise, the nail strip had flipped up on two of my nails and had black lint from my pants on it. A couple of hours later, another nail strip on the same hand started to flip up and peel.

The packaging said that these would last up to fourteen days, so I knew they would probably not last quite that long without having some wear and tear. However, I did expect them to last more than a few hours. This was so disappointing because I thought I had found a good alternative to Color Street.

Two out of five stars is what I'd give Dashing Diva Gloss Ultra Shine Gel Palette in the Palm Beach colors. Where they have amazing colors and designs, they just don't last as long as they should. From now on, I will just stick with Color Street.
